The 2019 Buick Lacrosse lineup introduces an all-new Sport Touring trim level, boasting a V6 engine with a power output of 310 hp, 19-inch wheels, and blacked out grille. Being a full-size sedan, the Buick offers six trim levels that range from a front wheel drive four-cylinder engine to a four-wheel drive V6 engine.
The base model features dual-zone automatic climate control, 8 front leatherette seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, 4G LTE mobile hotspots, HID headlights, and a responsive 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is highly fluid and can be integrated with both Android Auto and Apple Care Play.
The top tier LaCrosse Avenir goes several steps further by including a black mesh grille, satellite navigation, panoramic moonroof, and a wireless docking station to wirelessly charge smartphones and other devices.
The standard version of the LaCrosse features a 2.5 liter four cylinder hybrid system that is capable of reaching 187 pound-feet of torque and 194 hp, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. This mild hybrid system swaps out the alternator with a generator that is capable of recouping energy from a lithium-ion battery. The primary task of the electric motor is to smoothen out the start/stop transitions.
Upgrading to the V6 engine will allow the LaCrosse to crunch out a respectable 310 horsepower with 268 pound-foot of torque mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. It is available for both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive models. The shifts handle smoothly and the steering wheel has a satisfying on-center feel. It is easy to accelerate to breakneck speeds, especially if you choose the V6 engine.
The 2019 Buick LaCrosse deploys advanced safety features such as blind spot and lane change alerts, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian detection, and automatic cruise control.
These safety features require the buyer to opt for The Driver Confidence 1 and 2 packages, depending on their requirement. The higher end premium and Avenir versions feature safety alert seat and forward collision alert.
Being a full-sized sedan, the spacious LaCrosse provides room for up to five passengers. The rear and front seat legroom are 38 and 42 inches respectively. In V6 models, the trunk space was measured at 15 cubic feet. In the four-cylinder eAssist models, the battery inevitably reduces space to 14.3 cubic feet, which is an understandable compromise. The rear seats can be folded to a 60/40 split configuration.
The 2019 Buick LaCrosse is paired with standard 8 speaker stereo system, ignition with remote start, keyless entry, 4G LTE and wireless hotspot, and tops it off with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that works with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Buyers can opt for the Sights and Sound package which adds extra bells and whistles such as HD radio, an 11-speaker Bose audio system, and satellite navigation.
Bluetooth pairing is simple enough to accomplish because both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay work seamlessly. Furthermore, the center console’s wireless charging pocket is easily accessible to fit larger phones and phones with cases. The car will even notify you of incoming messages and read them.
